Hello...
Liam Davies is Welsh born but Lancashire bred. In the past he has been a stand up comedian, playwright, horticulturalist, garden designer and English teacher, as well as other less fulfilling jobs. But he always returned to writing as his primary passion.

Currently, he is an associate lecturer of Creative Writing, an accredited copyeditor, and writer of darkly humorous memoir, personal essays and horror fiction.
He lives with his wife and daughter on the edge of the moors, brooding like a pound-shop Heathcliffe.

And at some point in his life, he cringed whilst typing this...
A bit more flesh on the bones...
Liam's earliest writing, whenever the chance at primary school arose, was to write what he imagined horror fiction to be. Invariably (and a little self-importantly) he was always a character in his own stories and he would always be killed at the end.

At univerisity, Liam studied Drama in Manchester, particularly enjoying a theatre script-writing module. His first play, Swine, earned a nomination for Best New Play at the M.E.N Theatre Awards in 2000. His follow up, Tinned Sharks was performed at Matt and Phred's Jazz Club in 2001. He went on to pivot into writing fiction in his twenties, with some success at landing short stories in small press magazines and anthologies in the UK and US. His first long form fiction publications include Adventures in Bedsit by Pendragon Press, and Bugger All Backwards and Sow, both released by Sideshow Press.

Liam took a hiatus from writing, instead teaching English Language and Creative Writing for a while. Then he discovered a love of gardening, earned Post Grad' Diplomas in Horticulture and Garden Design, spent some time working for the landed gentry, and hating that, returned to education. He holds an MA in Creative Writing to distinction level and is an accredited copy editor and proofreader.

Now he writes non-fiction and fiction and is an associated lecturer of Creative Writing for a university in the north of England.

Influences...
Liam's life experiences shape his non-fiction, in particular an adult austism diagnosis, his interests in philosophy and Buddhism, his love of music and films (particularly horror), as well as food, gardening, and nature. He also draws upon his eclectic job experiences (from factory work to rewilding and gardening for the landed gentry), and parenting his beloved daughter.

His favourite writers include Cliver Barker, Stephen King, Magnus Mills, Harold Pinter, Joan Didion, Benjamin Myers, Emily Bronte, Rebecca Solnit, Raymond Carver, Andrew Michael Hurley, Sarah Moss and too many more to mention.
